I read this book for the first time when I was sixteen, and I still love it. Von Bredow takes a fairly controversial topic (incest) and wraps it into a story that leaves you shivering.

The attraction between Ludvig and Amanda is almost palpable, and being told from Amanda's POV, the reader sees her confusion and guilt first-hand. Amanda knows it's wrong to be in love with her brother, but she can't help her feelings.

When Amanda and Ludvig finally give in to their feelings, the desperation and depth of their feelings is masterfully conveyed in one of the most beautiful and most powerful sex scenes I've ever read.

However, the relationship is discovered and Amanda and Ludvig are separated. It is perfectly clear that although both of them move on with their lives after some time, consciously fighting against their feelings every day, there's still attraction between them.

This book left me emotionally exhausted. It is captivating and sensitively written, addressing the topic without shame or condemnation. Not a year goes by without my re-reading this book. I promise that you won't be disappointed.
