Never Forget Beacons of Hope Book 5 edition by Jody Hedlund Religion Spirituality eBooks

A wonderful conclusion to the Beacons of Hope series. I have enjoyed learning about the lighthouse keepers and what they had to go through to keep the lanterns going. I especially learning about how often times it was the women that did the job even though they were not thought to be "able" to do it.
Abbie has been doing her best to be able to continue living on Rose Island and keeping the light so that her grandfather can stay on the island as well. She has even gotten married so that her husband can be considered the keeper since her grandfather can no longer do the job as he could before. Abbie's husband is not quite up to the job, so when a man washes up on shore and cannot remember who he is, she lets him believe that he is supposed to be there and passes him off as her husband.
I enjoyed seeing the growing relationship between Abbie and Nathaniel and how even though things didn't always work out in the timing they wanted, they managed to do what was eventually right to get done what had to be done.
I received an advance copy from the author, the review is entirely my own.

Never Forget Beacons of Hope Book 5 edition by Jody Hedlund Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

This was very good. The story focuses on the idea that we are not by default "like" our parents... Thank you, God! I love the writing style, the history, the "love", and the message of this book series. My thanks goes to the author... again!
I did not enjoy this one at all. Maybe I am just tired of reading about light keepers and their daughters, but I never felt invested in the two main characters. The pace of the book was exceedingly slow, and everything that happened was completely predictable. Very happy this series is finished.
This was my first time to read a book by Jody Hedlund. I found Never Forget to be a book I didn't want to put down and was sad when it came to an end. I'll definitely be reading the first four books in this series as soon as I get the chance. It was such a joy to find a new author to read as well.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
Jody Hedlund's " Never Forget" is the fifth and final book in the Beacons of Hope series and is an historical based Christian romance novel. The story has some mystery with some twists to hold interest and the romance is clean. Abbie, the main character has been patterned after Ida Lewis a famous female light keeper in the same vicinity as Rose Island and others mentioned in this fiction. IMs. Lewis is also famous for her many rescues. There are several more historical based details in this story that can be learned at the end of the book that are very interesting. The characters are developed. Abbie has told many lies to protect her grandfather, which is never good for any relationship. the theme is God's grace to forgive and redeem all who come to Him, through Jesus!
4+ Stars
While this story took me a little longer to get into, it ended up grabbing my attention and kept me up reading late tonight. Never Forget, the final book in the Beacons of Hope series, had me wondering what would become of these two! Abbie, while tenderhearted and hardworking, has entrenched herself with her lies. And Nathaniel has made several bad choices and is feeling the consequences. There are so many lessons wrapped up in this one; obviously honesty and living a godly life, but woven in are the threads of family, hope, forgiveness, trust, marriage and redemption.

I loved seeing Nathaniel transform and eventually Abbie too. Both had to make some hard decisions and trust God to ultimately work it all out. Their chemistry and affection felt very real and I enjoyed the moments between them. Fans of the series will delight in this last installment!

Can Nathaniel believe he has been made new in Christ and live it out? What happens when he discovers Abbie's deception? And what will happen when his past catches up with him? Can Abby trust God and find security in the fact that He will never leave her? Can she be brave and honest? And what about the threats she is receiving from Zeke? How will she care for her grandpa? And what about those rumors of treasure? I guess you will just have to read this one to find out!
Abbie Watson's grandfather is keeper of the Rose Island Lighthouse, and day by day his memories are slipping away. She will do anything she can to help him hold on to the place that gives him security, whether it's the duties he no longer remembers to perform, neglecting sleep in order to go clamming to raise money to pay for medicine he needs...or acting like the young man washed up on the shore is her missing husband.

Nathaniel Winthrop III's life of parties and carousing comes to an abrupt end when he's thrown from his yacht in the middle of a storm. He wakes with no memory of the room he's in or of the beautiful girl tending to him. Dogged by the faint notion that he's led a life he's not proud of, Nathaniel is determined to do whatever he can to make the young woman who says she's his wife proud of him.

The amnesia device can be tough because it's so often used poorly, but Jody Hedlund doesn't overplay her hand. The parallels between Nathaniel's situation and Hosea's are poignant and add depth to the story. If it was a bit too easy to see what was coming occasionally, that was easy to forgive because of the characters themselves. There's plenty of chemistry between Abbie and Nathaniel and they were both likable and relatable. Nathaniel's growth, in particular, was nice to see.

As always with Jody Hedlund's writing, the spiritual thread is strong, encouraging the characters and through them the reader. In this case it was with the truth that "If any man is in Christ, he is a new creation." She illustrated this well through both Abbie and Nathaniel in a way that was authentic without being preachy.

Jody Hedlund is a gifted writer of historical romance and if you love that genre like I do, you'll enjoy Never Forget.
